Ashley N. Short
My name is Ashley Short. I am currently studying Mathematics, Elementary Education at Grand Valley State University. My home town is Davison, Michigan. I have always wanted to be a teacher. When I was young, I would always make my older sister play school with me. I was always the teacher, so I could make the worksheets. Making math worksheets were my favorite. This is how I found out that not only did I want to become a teacher, but I would love to teach Mathematics.
The past two summers I was a nanny for eight children. Their ages ranged from 6 to 14. I loved it and I always look forward to visiting them when I am home from college over breaks. In May 2014, I will be studying abroad in Arusha, Tanzania. Here I will be teaching in the local schools. This is going to be a great experience to teach since they do not use any technology to teach. It will open my eyes on how to help my future students in the best way possible since I will have different experiences then most!
I am currently in the Grand Valley State University College of Education Program. I am very excited. I am doing my student assisting at Zinser Elementary, in a first grade classroom. I absolutely love working in this classroom. Working with kids everyday and watch their development in education is my passion. I cannot wait to have my own classroom!
